Steps of A Putty Job, window and glass repairs
In general, you must follow the following steps :
Clean and remove the broken glass and hardened putty from the window/door frame rebate
Remove any of sprigs or glaziers’ points along the rebate of a window
Put back putty in place of the rebate
Place the glass pane onto the back putty in rebate of the frame, press the pane of glass into that bed of back putty ensuring that it is evenly bedded in and the putty is squeezed up and down between the back of the rebate and the glass pane.
drive or shoot glazing sprig/glaziers’ point just into the bottom of the rebate to ensure the glass pane is held in position
Apply more putty by your thumb in front of the glass pane, and smooth off to an even slope, press the pane to back putty side and get a firm density.
Remove the surplus putty from the inner face of the glass and betweem glass pane and rebate frame rebate. Putty job is completed and the next job is painting job. Below pictures are the real putty job done today by our glaziers.
